10 FOR TUESDAYS - MONKS OF MELLONWAH PART TWO

If you were stuck on a desert island, which other artist would you want to be stuck with?
Muse for sure! I think that band would be awesome to be with. I’m guessing we have our guitars and drums so the jamming and ideas would be unreal, but watching videos of them back stage and interviews, they seem like they would be heaps of fun to chill with and most importantly a good laugh.

What artists in the chart are you most impressed with at the moment?
There isn’t a great deal happening in the Australian and International Charts other than the oppressing sounds of electro/dance/RnB. This isn’t to say we don’t enjoy it, but we feel as if there is a lot more room for Rock Music to make a full-blown return. That being said, we are very impressed with bands such as the Chili Peppers and Radiohead, who despite being around for such a long time are still rocking on – there is such support for bands like this over here and we only hope they continue because they are the bands keeping us going. As well as this, we are starting enjoy the toils of Dubstep, not the harder stuff, but bands like Nero are great and we feel there is a bridge between Dubstep and Rock that maybe one day we will explore.

What do you like to do when you’re not making music?
Strangely enough, making more music! I am an aspiring film composer as well and when I’m not jamming with the boys or gigging I am locked away in my home studio writing film inspired music, orchestral and electronica stuff for film and ads and working with singer Caitlin-Rose on my own solo project de la Aurora. The other boys, Will, John and Josh are hard at university studying in law, commerce law and medical science respectively.

How important is it to find a studio that suits you when recording?
The whole recording process is a strange one. It is all about finding the right relationships with the producers, engineers and also the studio. It is hard enough having to deal with each other, so the whole process is made that much easier and more gratifying when you are comfortable where you are and who your with. I think the resulting music is a testament to the whole recording experience.

What do you think about StudioBookers and why would you recommend it to your friends?
StudioBookers looks great. Although where based in Sydney and thus most of our recording sessions and activities are based here, the site looks great and I only wish there could be a similar such site over here – or maybe they might extend their site to include the Australian Recording Industry. But I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
