As
the music charts in recent times has contained dance and pop music, it is
becoming increasingly more difficult for indie music to make an impact. The
challenge is to create music that is original and will get people listening in
such a dance orientated climate.
If you were stuck on a desert island, who would you want to be stuck with, musicians or otherwise?
Being stuck on an island with Beyonce wouldn't be too bad!
What artists in the chart are you impressed with at the moment?
Two artists stick out for me in the charts at the moment, Foster The People are an indie band making waves worldwide, reaching number 18 in the U.K. charts and number 3 in the states which is unusual considering the genre they carry in the dance-centric charts.
The other artist that has impressed me recently is fellow Brighton band Rizzle Kicks. Less than a year ago they were unknown artists just releasing remixes of others songs on Youtube, this enable them gain a following and eventually led to them being singed. Just a few days ago they hit number 2 in the U.K. charts, they are a perfect example of how the Internet has aided the rise of unknown artists.

It is
essential that you are comfortable when recording so that the record you create
can reach it's full potential. I don’t think it is possible to go into any
old recording studio and create something really special. I think more than
anything it is important to have a good relationship with the engineer/producer
you are recording with, a good relationship with them can really help to create
something you are proud of.
