Welcome to the second instalment of the 'Celebrity
Profiles' series. In this instalment we will be profiling
singer/songwriter/producer Labrinth.
Labrinth first
appeared in the public eye when he produced Tinie Tempah's first two singles
'Pass Out' and 'Frisky.' However he had been busy honing his craft
way before that having grown up in a very musical family with 9 siblings. His
first big production credits came when he produced the majority of Master
Shortie's debut album and this led to him being offered a publishing deal with
EMI, this then led to him working with the majority of the UK’s finest Urban
artists.
In June of 2010 Labrinth signed with Simon Cowell’s label
SYCO Music, because of this he has the title of being the first ever signing to
SYCO Music not to have signed through one of Cowell’s reality shows. He
released his first single ‘Let The Sunshine’ in September 2010 and since then
has been busy working on his upcoming solo album ‘Electronic Earth.’
Another project that Labrinth has been working on since
breaking into the industry is setting up his own record label ‘Odd Child
Recordings’ which is an imprint of SYCO. He decided to set up the label to
enable himself to develop new upcoming talent and the first signing to the
label was Etta Bond.
Something you may not know about Labrinth is that he also
has his own restaurant called Mosaica, which is situated directly beneath his
own studio (I bet that comes in handy after long days crafting music!)
Remember Lab’s debut album ‘Electronic Earth' is out on April
4th. Be sure to get your hands on a copy of what is likely to be one
of the albums of the year!
